Therapy Modalities

Therapy at Spark Recovery
Therapy is an integral part of sustainable recovery. From talk therapy and family counseling to expressive therapies there is the right combination of therapy services for everyone.
At Spark Recovery we seek to provide clients with the a deeper understanding about their triggers, coping tools, and ways to build a healthy support network and resources to community support.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on awareness of irrational or negative thinking in a way that allows an individual to view situations from a different perspective and respond to them more effectively. CBT can be very helpful in treating substance use disorders by helping individuals learn how to better manage triggers and cravings.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that helps individuals focus on acceptance of behaviors and learning how to manage those behaviors rather than change them. DBT is most effective for individuals who have intense emotional responses to situations. The main goal of DBT is to find a balance between validation of the individual and their challenges through the use of self-regulation skills.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) focuses on “What happened to you?” rather than “What’s wrong with you?” This approach to treatment identifies the need for a holistic view of an individual’s life situation to deliver the most effective services in the most healing way. This has been shown to improve patient engagement, adherence to treatment, and client outcomes.
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is designed to enhance personal motivation and commitment to a particular goal by empowering the individual to explore their own reasons for change within an environment of compassion and validation. MI is typically a framework for communication rather than an intervention and is often used in combination with other treatment approaches such as CBT, DBT, etc. MI uses a core skill set that contains open-ended questions, strengths-based language, reflective listening, summarizing, etc.
