Meet the Team

Spark Recovery is a community of therapists, medical providers, and staff driven by their desire to assist clients in achieving results toward a sustainable recovery. Our focus is on treating the whole person, giving equal emphasis to mental, emotional and physical wellness. We will walk beside each client through every step of their journey as they work toward reaching and maintaining recovery.

Annette Kreider


Annette Kreider, MSW, LCSW is our Clinical Director at Spark Recovery. She has a Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University-Purdue  at Indianapolis. She also has a degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Purdue University. She has many years of experience as Director of Clinical Services and program development in the areas of Substance Use, Dual Diagnosis and other Mental Health issues. 

Working with those suffering from substance use disorders is a tremendous passion of hers. Her personal and professional journey have given her more insight and motivation to help restore hope for those fighting this disease. Her goals as Clinical Director are centered around delivering an outstanding client experience. This will focus on ensuring excellent clinical care, and providing a commitment to clients and their families in getting the necessary services and support for a successful transition to a healthy lifestyle.

Spencer Medcalf, ASN, RN


Spencer is the Director of Business Development at Spark Recovery, bringing several years of experience in business development from various acute inpatient and residential settings. Formerly the Lead Peer Recovery Coach for the Virtual Behavioral Health Hub with the IU Health Virtual Care Team. He holds certifications in Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach (CAPRC2), Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS), Certified Supervisor of Peer Recovery coaches (CSPR-PR), and Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS).

Spencer is in long-term recovery from Substance Use Disorder for over 6 years and was awarded the Indiana Counselors Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse (ICAADA) Recovery Coach of the Year in 2018. Graduating cum laude from Ivy Tech Community College with an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), Spencer is a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and currently pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at IUPUI. An active member of the IU School of Medicine (IUSM) Project ECHO, Spencer serves as an expert panelist and facilitator on various tracks related to substance use disorder and behavioral health. He advocates for breaking the stigma of SUD through advocacy and education, ensuring high-quality care for individuals.

Vicki Burdine


Vicki Burdine, MD, has provided clinical leadership throughout her career across a continuum of care that has included hospitals in Indiana and Ohio through such roles as CEO, Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer. In addition, Dr. Burdine has served as Regional Director of Psychiatry for the Indiana Department of Corrections where she assisted in the development of programming and clinical services for those individuals who were justice involved.

While in her role at IDOC, she continued providing direct care services where she aided those suffering from substance use and co-occurring disorders. Dr. Burdine currently serves as Chief Medical Officer to a large behavioral health hospital where she has assisted with program development, providing key leadership to all clinical departments, and delivering direct care services to a vast array of populations including those suffering from substance use and cooccurring disorders. Dr. Burdine has a Bachelor of Science and Nursing degree from Indiana University, and a Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. She served her residency in Psychiatry at Indiana University in Indianapolis and specialized in Geriatric Psychiatry at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is board certified in General Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Burdine is also a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership, American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists, American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry and Academy of Correctional Health Professionals.

Asia Atkinson

Nurse practitioner

Asia is a board certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She has a natural ability to connect with patients and is highly skilled at using evidence-based practice (EBP) and clinical experience to assist patients in achieving mental wellness. Asia specializes in pharmacological interventions and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for a range of substance use disorders (SUDs), serious mental illnesses (SMIs), and dual diagnoses. She is truly passionate about providing patient-centered care and creating a partnership with her patients to help achieve their goals and become the best versions of themselves.

Kim Davenport


Kim Davenport is a seasoned professional with a 30-year career in addictions and corrections. As a Licensed Mental Health Clinician and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, she specializes in group therapy at the IOP level of care, considering it a sacred space for her clients’ recovery journey. Kim is passionate about treating trauma alongside addictions, challenging negative core beliefs, and fostering healing. 

Outside of her work, Kim enjoys quality time with her son and dogs. A dedicated Goodwill shopper and library enthusiast, she draws inspiration for her unique fashion sense from mermaids and peacocks. Since 1983, Kim has sported mismatched earrings, showcasing her individuality. Her optimistic outlook, fascination with people, and gratitude for her blessings make her an inspiring presence. Kim is thrilled to bring her expertise to Spark Recovery, appreciating its boutique approach and commitment to building meaningful relationships within the recovery community.
